AI is Taking Your Job

What tools you need to leverage and which you should avoid as a marketer

This week, The BrandFathers broke down the AI ad gold rush. More specifically what to avoid, what to lean into, and why not all the tools are worth your time.

We also covered Saratoga Water’s unexpected viral moment and what the brand should be doing to turn buzz into real sales (spoiler: it’s not more cheeky Instagram posts).

AI Ads

Adidas Pyramid = Great.
Butchered clothing logos and text/logo placements = needs work.

What happened: OpenAI launched a new image generation update and it took twitter by storm.

Marketers everywhere started posting fake Adidas ads, packaging mockups, and “this changes everything” takes.

The Fathers Take: The new image generation in GPT is incredible. There’s no doubting that it will change the game completely in the next few months/years, but as of right now, there’s still an aspect of fine tuning/detail it lacks.

What we think it’s most useful for is creating backgrounds, stock models, product images, etc. You should then leverage these assets and overlay text/logos after in Figma/Canva to ensure that sweet designers touch and detail.

Saratoga Water

What Happened: Influencer Ashton Hall went mega-viral for posting his daily routines, with the most noticeable aspect being his daily face cold plunge into ice water poured from the bottles of Saratoga water.

The Fathers Take: Saratoga didn’t do anything on social initially but has since created a few posts playing into the viral sensation/meme. While they’re performing decent, it’s not a real needle mover for a retail company, and that’s ok.

What’s more important, and should be Saratoga’s main pursuit right now, is getting the best retail product placement possible. We’re talking endcaps, entry way displays, lead-in shelves at eye level, more skews, ISM, etc.

Final Sermon

AI is changing the marketing game forever. While it may not be fully here yet, it’s getting close. One thing AI will never replace is viral memes. There will always be another Ashton Hall and Sartoga water, and it’s on you to know how to capitalize.
